The Corita Art Center, preserves and promotes Corita Kent’s art, teaching, and passion for social justice. Today, the Corita Art Center supports exhibition loans and public programs, oversees image and merchandising rights, sells Corita’s original prints, and serves as a resource of information about her life and work.

The Corita Art Center is seeking an intern to support our ongoing endeavors to preserve, organize, and engage the archives and artworks of Corita Kent. Our goal is to make these collections accessible to historians, curators and generations of enthusiasts to come.

The Getty Marrow Collections and Research Intern will primarily be focused on supporting the Curator/Collections Manager in the organization and management of the Corita Art Center’s collection of
artworks and archives as well as assisting with preliminary historical research and data collection for an upcoming catalogue raisonné of Corita Kent’s serigraphic prints.

General duties will include assisting with handling, relocating, and assessing the condition of prints for the purposes of: general collection maintenance; exhibition loans; sales; and acquisitions. Additional catalogue raisonné responsibilities include confirming collections information for prints using the Center’s historical materials and external resources; reviewing and editing FilemakerPro database records into a standard format; contacting organizations for collections information; and performing other miscellaneous research tasks to ensure the quality of the database records.

Ideal candidates will have a background and interest in art history, library science, or fine arts; excellent computer and communication skills; experience performing research in art libraries, archives
and online; experience with Microsoft Office and Google G Suite.

The internship is a full-time (35 hours/week) position with a salary of $6,000, for a consecutive ten-week work period to be arranged by the Intern and the Corita Art Center, but no sooner than June 8 and ending no later than August 30th, 2020.

Paid Photo Internship at Giant Artists

The purpose of the internship role is to gain knowledge of the operations of a photography agency which include artist management and marketing strategies. You will contribute to the Giant Artists team by managing daily tasks which include general office administration, data management, image collection, and portfolio management. Commitment to successfully completing your internship with Giant Artists enhances your ability to secure a meaningful role in the commercial arts industry. The internship will begin first week of March.

GOALS

  1. The intern will create a career blueprint at the beginning of the internship program to further define their goals and career aspirations.

  2. Gain a deeper understanding of the business of a photography agency and how to market photographers

  3. Learn the sales and estimating process from the Sr. Reps.

  4. Create internship presentation by the end of the 3-month program of what they learned and share their final career blueprint with the Giant team.

Giant Artists is a women-owned production and management company based in Los Angeles and New York. They represent a mix of emerging and established photographers and directors, including Art Streiber, Micaiah Carter, Jessica Antola, Emily Shura, among others.

Current ArtCenter students can apply for $ to participate in off-campus experiences such as educational conferences, workshops, or classes that demonstrate the potential for learning leadership skills and pursue growth in their field of interest not currently offered at ArtCenter.

The Application Deadline is Monday, February 24th before 9:00 am

Funds may not be used retroactively, meaning that all proposals must begin after Wednesday, February 26. We recommend that applicants search out opportunities that are scheduled March – October 2020

Frieze Los Angeles is hiring short term staff for February 13th to 16th. Those interested should be passionate about art and photography both personally and academically. ArtCenter students and recent alumni are encourage to apply. specifically those who are engaged (personally and/or academically) with the arts. All staff receive a credential which allows them to access the fair all week, even when they are not working.

There are a variety of positions available. Some positions require working the fair for all four days. All positions are paid at rates ranging from $19 to $25 per hour. Interested applicants apply by email.

The Associated Press seeks a talented and aggressive visual journalist to work in its Los Angeles, California, bureau as a photographer and multi-format journalist.

Responsibilities include reporting to the U.S. West regional deputy news director for storytelling and photos, this photographer will cover spot news, enterprise and sporting events in Southern California and may travel on occasion to cover of news outside of the state. The successful candidate will be a self-starter who can create images and generate visually led story ideas that go beyond spot news and will resonate in Los Angeles, in California and around the world. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in multiple media formats, from the field and from the desk, and with photographing breaking news, sports and enterprise. This photographer must have the ability and willingness to work any shift, including at night and on weekends, or as coverage demands, as AP is a 24/7 operation.
