About the Exhibit

We are pleased to announce our Fifth Annual Street Shooting Around the World Exhibition! The exhibit will run from February 8 – March 8, 2019, with opening night reception scheduled for Friday, February 8, 7-10 pm, 2019. The theme is street shooting around the world. The juror, Nick Turpin, will select between 40-50 images based on creativity, originality, and quality. In addition, another 40-50 images will be chosen for a virtual gallery display via LACP’s website. There is no limit to the amount of images which can be submitted.

Photography alum Camillo Longo (BFA 12) was featured as the cover artist for ArtCenter’s Fall 2018 Dot Magazine. Raised and is based in Southern California’s Antelope Valley, photographer and graphic designer Camillo Longo finds inspiration for his striking photos everywhere, from sprawling national parks and tattooed motorcyclists to moths whose textured wings look like paintings. JOB OVERVIEW: 
We are looking for a highly motivated intern who can assist our Exhibitor Relations Manager. The intern will obtain credit in conjunction with their school program and will gain an overview of how an art/photo fair is run, working with a small collaborative staff. Minimum 3-month commitment of 8-10 hours per week. Schedule is flexible. The following is a list of most of the tasks required for the position.

Announcement of Participating Women Artists Date: January 18, 2019

Group Exhibition: Dacia Gallery invites women artists to submit artwork for an opportunity to participate in our upcoming Group Exhibition on Women Artists for 2019. We are looking for a diverse body of artwork in all mediums and styles, this will be a mixed group show of all recent artwork created by contemporary women artists, exhibiting what they are working on today. The gallery will advertise and promote the selected artists for the exhibitions and host a formal Opening Reception for the exhibition, including an Artist Talk during the opening reception. If you are looking for gallery representation and to have a Show in New York City, submit your art that we may discover your compelling work and present it to the public, gallery directors, curators and collectors. This exhibition is dedicated to the spirit of all women in the arts.

PDN Student Photo Contest 2019

Gain Important and Critical Exposure for your Work! The PDNedu Student Photo Contest is open to students of undergraduate, graduate and certificate programs, and also includes a category for high school students. Winners and honorable mentions will be recognized in the Spring 2019 issue of PDNedu, which has a circulation of 50,000 copies to students and educators nationwide. Featured photographers will also be promoted to PDN's online audience of more than 500,000 followers.

All photographers retain their copyright. Winning work will only be published in the print and online winners' gallery and in promotion related to the PDNedu contest.

Paul Bielenberg Receives Outstanding Service Award

Congratulations to Outstanding Service award honoree Paul Bielenberg! Paul is a highly respected architectural photographer with numerous clients and projects nationwide. Dedicated to the widespread ArtCenter community of creative professionals, he regularly collaborates with fellow alumni on client shoots. He has taught architectural photography at ArtCenter since 1986. He epitomizes the entrepreneurial graduate with an established career and teaches a high standard of professionalism in his classes. A deeply committed teacher, he works tirelessly with students and supports them with guidance and expertise to discover solutions to artistic and business challenges.

ArtCenter College of Design will honor Paul and three additional distinguished alumni at the 2018 Alumni Awards Dinner on Saturday evening, October 27 at the Chevy Chase Country Club. The event, held in conjunction with the College’s inaugural Alumni Reunion, honors those who best represent the impact of an ArtCenter education on the world to shape a more humane future.

 

Urim Hong Receives Two International Photography Awards

Congratulations to ArtCenter 7th term student Urim Ray Hong. Ray received the First Place 2018 Editorial Photographer of the Year presented by the International Photography Awards for his series City Soleil: Eager to Learn. You can view the series here.

City Soleil is a small village within the Port-au-Prince metropolitan area in Haiti. Unlike its name—City of the Sun—however, it seems as though there is only a glimpse of light remaining.

Hong also received an Honorable Mention for City Soleil: A Light in the Darkness.
