Fotobokfestival, is a ten day event in the heart of downtown Oslo, the capital of Norway. Fotobokfestival, established by Forbundet Frie Fotografer in 2009, explores the photobook as an artistic medium and phenomenon.

This year the festival will be devoted to the climate crisis. Applicants are encouraged to submit lens-based work and material-process that may include video, sound, and other time-based and social practice strategies.

Entry deadline is Wednesday, March 11, 2020

 

Ebell/Flint Scholarship Program

Ebell of Los Angeles, for the past 100 years, have provided monetary assistance to students of any major who attend private or public colleges or universities in the county of Los Angeles through the Ebell/Flint Scholarship Fund. The Ebell/Flint Scholarship Fund was established for undergraduates who are in economic need, show academic achievement, and community service. ArtCenter students who have completed their first year of studies are eligible for $5,000 per year. Scholarships continue for a maximum of three years while the student is enrolled as an undergraduate and maintains Ebell eligibility requirements.

There is no fee to apply

The Huntington Library seeks a creative and collaborative professional to develop and interpret its exceptional collection of over 800,000 photographic images, dating from the 1840s to the present. The incumbent will be responsible for the stewardship of these materials and for building and maintaining a vibrant collections profile that serves the needs of advanced researchers and contributes to the cultural enrichment of the public.

The successful applicant will demonstrate an understanding of the role of visual resources in contemporary scholarship, as well as an aptitude for the focused acquisition of photographic materials and their imaginative interpretation through public exhibitions for diverse audiences.

 

Palm Spring Photo Festival Volunteer Ambassador or Intern Opportunity

PSPF 2020 is now accepting applications for volunteer ambassadors and interns. Volunteer ambassadors and interns are a vital component to the success of the Palm Springs Photo Festival experience.

As a volunteer or intern, you will have the opportunity to attend festival programs, gain relevant work experience in photography and/or event production, and work alongside established industry professionals.

We always use our best efforts to place volunteer ambassadors and interns into positions of their choice at PSPF. 

Volunteers are requested to be available for the entire week of the festival (Sunday - Friday, May 3 - 8, 2020).

Foam is an Amsterdam based organization with a focus on, and attention to relevant developments in contemporary photography. By scouting, following and presenting young, talented photographers and their work, Foam aims to discover and stimulate exceptional quality of upcoming artists working with the photographic medium.

Foam Fotografiemuseum Amsterdam annually positions a group of emerging photographers in the spotlight on the world stage via the Foam Talent Call. The call is one of the most prestigious international open calls for photographers between the ages of 18 and 35 and is a  moment for Foam to gain insight into the current state of affairs in photography around the world. Through our scouting activities in the professional field and opening up to submit work, Foam creates a clear insight into the new developments, trends and themes in contemporary photography.

Call For Entry - PHMuseum 2020 Photography Grant

The PHmuseum Photography Grant is an annual initiative which recognises the importance of photography and visual storytelling. Over the years it has grown into a leading photography prize, with previous editions having awarded work by photographers like Jacob Aue Sobol, Diana Markosian, Max Pinckers, Poulomi Basu, and Tomas van Houtryve, among many others. Now in its eighth edition, the initiative is designed to support the production and promotion of visual projects through cash prizes, educational activities and exposure across international festivals, and online media.

To participate, you are invited to submit one or more projects centered around a specific theme, narrative or concept. All approaches are welcomed, from classic narratives to innovative and experimental projects. Our independent jury will then review all the submissions and gather together to decide what is most relevant according to their personal criteria. As usual, you retain full copyright at all times.

Entry fee is $40. Deadline for entry is February, 20th, 2020

Call For Entry - Earth in Focus: A Celebration of our Dynamic Planet

 

Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, together with Photoville, announce a photo contest to celebrate Earth Day’s 50th Anniversary.

The contest invites professional, amateur, and student artists to submit their photography for the 2020 outdoor exhibition Earth in Focus: A Celebration of Our Dynamic Planet. There is no cost for entry.

Earth in Focus will open on Earth Day, April 22nd, to highlight the environmental movement’s 50th anniversary, as well as the strides made in preservation and sustainability.

Over twenty photographers will be selected to be part of this public exhibition at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts throughout the year. Photographs will be displayed in large-scale photo cubes throughout Bethel Woods campus. All selected photographers will be invited to attend the exhibit opening event with potential to receive a travel stipend. Additionally, six photographers will be selected as Juror’s Picks, and will receive an online feature.

Paid Photo Internship at Giant Artists

The purpose of the internship role is to gain knowledge of the operations of a photography agency which include artist management and marketing strategies. You will contribute to the Giant Artists team by managing daily tasks which include general office administration, data management, image collection, and portfolio management. Commitment to successfully completing your internship with Giant Artists enhances your ability to secure a meaningful role in the commercial arts industry. The internship will begin first week of March.

GOALS

  1. The intern will create a career blueprint at the beginning of the internship program to further define their goals and career aspirations.

  2. Gain a deeper understanding of the business of a photography agency and how to market photographers

  3. Learn the sales and estimating process from the Sr. Reps.

  4. Create internship presentation by the end of the 3-month program of what they learned and share their final career blueprint with the Giant team.

Giant Artists is a women-owned production and management company based in Los Angeles and New York. They represent a mix of emerging and established photographers and directors, including Art Streiber, Micaiah Carter, Jessica Antola, Emily Shura, among others.
