The Aperture Summer Open is an annual open-submission exhibition presented by Fotografiska New York, featuring a wide variety of work by photographers and lens-based artists from around the world. Selected by a jury of leading editors, curators, and writers, the exhibition seeks to reveal and report on key themes and trends driving contemporary photography. The exhibition opens the doors to photographers of all ages, at all points in their careers, as we seek to promote new ideas and talent.

The 2020 Aperture Summer Open is curated by Brendan Embser, managing editor of Aperture magazine, with Farah Al Qasimi, artist; Amanda Hajjar, director of exhibitions at Fotografiska; Kristen Lubben, executive director of the Magnum Foundation; and Paul Moakley, editor at large for special projects at TIME.

This year, Aperture is excited to announce that the Aperture Summer Open will be exhibited at Fotografiska New York.

Winners of the Summer Open will be exhibited in a group show at Fotografiska New York, opening August 4, 2020*. Winners will also be exposed to Aperture's global online audience, profiled on aperture.org, and featured across Aperture's social media channels.

The Eddie Adams Workshop accepts 50 college students, 50 professionals with five years or less experience, and U.S. military photographers. Candidates
 are required to submit a completed application, an application fee, a personal statement, and a portfolio of no more than 20 images. They will be selected solely on the merit of their portfolios and will be able to participate in the Eddie Adams workshop October 9-12, 2020 in Jeffersonville, NY.

Five photo editors review all applications in the first round to ensure they are complete and to move them to the next step for consideration. In the second and final round, a panel of more than a dozen industry professionals votes on portfolios during a full-day review. Applicants who do not get accepted may apply again for future Workshops. Workshop alumni are not eligible to apply again. Fifty student photographers and 50 professionals (including military) are selected each year. The Workshop is tuition-free. Students are responsible for transportation to and from Jeffersonville, NY, and a fee for room and board.

Submission deadline is extended to June 8th, 2020

Create visually appealing and technically sound video with both Drones, Steadicams, and other tools.

Utilize time of day, time of season and location based decisions on when to best photograph the exterior of commercial buildings. The Corita Art Center, preserves and promotes Corita Kent’s art, teaching, and passion for social justice. Today, the Corita Art Center supports exhibition loans and public programs, oversees image and merchandising rights, sells Corita’s original prints, and serves as a resource of information about her life and work.

The Corita Art Center is seeking an intern to support our ongoing endeavors to preserve, organize, and engage the archives and artworks of Corita Kent. Our goal is to make these collections accessible to historians, curators and generations of enthusiasts to come.

The Getty Marrow Collections and Research Intern will primarily be focused on supporting the Curator/Collections Manager in the organization and management of the Corita Art Center’s collection of
artworks and archives as well as assisting with preliminary historical research and data collection for an upcoming catalogue raisonné of Corita Kent’s serigraphic prints.

General duties will include assisting with handling, relocating, and assessing the condition of prints for the purposes of: general collection maintenance; exhibition loans; sales; and acquisitions. Additional catalogue raisonné responsibilities include confirming collections information for prints using the Center’s historical materials and external resources; reviewing and editing FilemakerPro database records into a standard format; contacting organizations for collections information; and performing other miscellaneous research tasks to ensure the quality of the database records.

Ideal candidates will have a background and interest in art history, library science, or fine arts; excellent computer and communication skills; experience performing research in art libraries, archives
and online; experience with Microsoft Office and Google G Suite.

The internship is a full-time (35 hours/week) position with a salary of $6,000, for a consecutive ten-week work period to be arranged by the Intern and the Corita Art Center, but no sooner than June 8 and ending no later than August 30th, 2020.

The Photoville FENCE is a year-round public photography project exhibited in major parks and down towns across North America. Featuring over 85 photographers annually, the exhibition brings compelling visual stories into the public realm, and to a wide and diverse audience. Categories of submission include: creatures, food, home, nature, people, play, and streets.

Photographers are invited to participate by submitting their work for consideration by a jury of over 50 international art professionals. The resulting exhibition is presented in 9 cities (and growing!) in partnership with local cultural and civic organizations – Atlanta, Brooklyn, Boston, Calgary, Denver, Durham, Houston, Sarasota and Seattle

The sixth edition of the LensCulture Street Photography Awards,  is now accepting submissions. Alumni Barbara DuMetz and Everard Williams, ArtCenter’s Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer Aaron Bruce, as well as video producer Elizabeth Gray Bayne explore the purpose and meaning of ArtCenter’s Black Alumni Exhibition 90/300 with KTLA Morning News.

This informative interview explores the iconography of Barbara DuMertz’s Coca Cola advertisement of 1984. Aaron Bruce explains the inspiration behind a black alumni exhibition and what 90/300 represents in ArtCenter’s 90 year history.

Everard Williams discusses his role as photographer and an Associate Professor with ArtCenter’s Photography and Imaging department. Elizabeth Gray Bayne introduces her short documentary Impact 300, a series of alumni interviews and their experiences as black artists.

In commemoration of ArtCenter’s 90th anniversary, the Center for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, in partnership with ArtCenter DTLA, 90/300 is a series of exhibitions and programs honoring the achievements of the College’s Black alumni. This exhibition is open from February 13 to March 13, 2020.
